Presenter: Zach Thomas, Art Director, Willow Marketing
Years of professional experience: 7+
Brief Bio: Zach Thomas is currently the art director at Willow Marketing, where he has been since 2013. Easily the most versatile member of the Willow team, Zach has experience as a graphic designer, developer and creative consultant. Prior to working at Willow, he worked in consulting and leadership development in nonprofit management, as well as in social media marketing and communications strategy. A Florida native, Zach went to the University of North Florida where he studied journalism and developmental psychology.

Presenter: Jessica Powell, VP of Marketing and Product Development, GTECH Indiana
Years of professional experience: 20+
Brief Bio: Jessica Powell, Vice-President of Marketing, GTECH Indiana, is a 20-year veteran of the marketing industry and expert in the gaming and hospitality categories. She has experience in every facet of the gaming category including state lotteries, Las Vegas mega-resorts, dockside and riverboat casinos and Indian gaming properties and has worked with notable industry leaders such as Walt Disney World Resorts, MGM Resorts International and Cathay Pacific Airways. She is currently working on behalf of the Hoosier Lottery ensuring the product development and marketing strategies connect with new and current players. Jessica is the author of “Beyond Myopic Marketing” and “Finding Opportunity in Troubled Times” and she has been quoted as an industry expert in such publications as Adweek, Advertising Age and DMNews.

Presenter: Ian Banks, current Business Development Manager for Strata; former DOS with Radio One, Inc.
Years of professional experience: 25+
Brief Bio: Director of Sales of Radio One, Indiana where I oversee the revenue development for a cluster of four radio stations, one TV station, and a myriad of websites. Prior to joining Radio One in this position in 2005, I lived and worked in Chicago where I started my career at Strata Marketing where I worked for 5 years. It was at Strata Marketing that I became proficient in understanding media research and its applications in the marketplace. Thereafter, I joined the Chicago Bonneville Radio Group (now Hubbard Broadcasting) where over the course of 10 years I worked in both sales and sales management. I have served two terms on the Scarborough Advisory Board representing the Midwest, and is currently the Past President of AAF Indianapolis as well as an AAF Lt. Governor for District 6 . I am a native of southern Colorado, and hold a BA in Psychology from Brown University.

Brief Bio: Broke into advertising through the PR window. Written and produced more than 100 TV commercials. Have managed three creative departments (including a stint on the client side with Finish Line). Developed work for brands including: The Indiana Pacers, Subway Restaurants, Indiana State Fair, Citizens Energy Group and Dick’s Sporting Goods/Nike. Taught at senior level as adjunct professor in design at IPFW. Have two kids. One wife. Two cats. One roommate.

Presenter: Eddy Cabello / Executive Creative Director at Cabello Associates

Brief Bio: Eddy Cabello is a 30+-yr ad veteran, having worked as an Art Director and Creative Director. Currently partner of Cabello Associates Inc., a full service Indianapolis advertising firm, Eddy focuses on the development of corporate communications through the merging of creativity and strategy. According to Cabello, “the synergy created from thinking strategically and developing creatively is what makes everyday exciting”. Over his career his branding work, product launch campaigns, healthcare & pharmaceutical marketing programs, and advertising campaigns have won him numerous awards on a global, national, and regional basis. As Creative Director, the creative direction he sets is daily translated into corporate branding, television/film, print/collateral, packaging, radio, web/social, interior monument design and Hispanic marketing. Past and current Board positions include: JDRF (Junior Diabetes Research Foundation); Indianapolis Civic Theatre; Riley Children’s Hospital Foundation; Wayne Township Educational Foundation; AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Artists); Big Brothers of Indiana; and American Advertising Federation (AAF).

Brief Bio: I have spent my career learning, growing and developing a well rounded creative eye. I am a traditionally trained artist who isn’t afraid of a blank piece of paper, I see it as an opportunity to create something from nothing. I back up my traditional skills with a mind for strategic planning and creative problem solving. I have the ability to see and plan for the big picture as well as the small details. I have developed and grown the creative team that I manage from a few designers to an in-house agency that is a solution generating powerhouse and I have loved every minute of it. I have had design work showcased in How Magazine and have won numerous financial industry design/marketing awards. I not only manage the brand for OneAmerica I have also worked with big name brands such as Eddie Bauer, Caribou Coffee, Triumph Motorcycle & Taylor Guitar.

Brief Bio: Todd Bolster is currently the vice president of client services at The Basement, a digital design studio in Indianapolis that builds tailored user experiences across mobile, desktop and TV. His clients include some of the largest brands and non-profits in the world.
At The Basement, Bolster co-founded that^me, a series of educational animations teaching life skills to college students. In 2011, Zeta Tau Alpha and the that^me series were honored with the North-American Interfraternity Conference Foundation’s award for “Best Communication Campaign” and won an Addy Award for Special Effects in Animation.

Brief Bio: I am a Ball State graduate that sold radio ads for WIBC during my first 3 post-college years. Since then I have worked for a small, but mighty ad agency, BPS Marketing, that puts an emphasis on client relationships. I have developed a niche as an event marketer; handling many events in Indy, Ft. Wayne, Dayton OH, Harrisburg PA and Baltimore, MD.
Current titles include Account Executive at BPS Marketing, VP of the American Advertising Federation of Indianapolis and marketing adviser to the Marion County Fair board.

Presenter: Karen Alter / Principal, Borshoff
Years of professional experience: 28+
Brief Bio: Karen Alter, a 28-year communications professional, oversees Borshoff’s creative services. She earned this title by ensuring that everything under her watch gets done on time, on budget and on strategy. Providing senior-level counsel to some of the agency’s largest clients, Karen works closely with account and creative teams on advertising, branding and marketing communications campaigns. She is an accredited business communicator and a past president and Communicator of the Year (COTY) recipient of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Indianapolis chapter. Karen has a bachelor’s degree from Butler University and a master’s degree from Indiana University. She’s currently a member of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD), a member of NAWBO and the 2013-14 president of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Indianapolis. She is also a founding member and past executive board member of the Indianapoli

Brief Bio: Brice has worked as a writer, producer and creative director in St. Louis, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis for a diverse range of local, regional and national brands. With 20+ years experience, Brice has successfully developed, implemented, and managed breakthrough campaigns that build brands, turn opinions, and drive sales. Brice holds a degree in Telecommunications from Indiana University and currently serves on the board of directors for the American Advertising Federation of Indianapolis. When he’s not building brands, he’s taxiing his three kids around town, coaching his son’s baseball team or trying out the latest bacon-wrapped recipe.
